About us

The bizSimple Mission

To provide straightforward, accurate information that will help people in England and Wales to plan and start their own small businesses.

What we do

  • Provide straightforward information in a simple format that is specifically geared to the smaller start-up business.
  • Provide highly relevant information for smaller start-up businesses
  • Tell you when we can help – and when we can't
  • Tell you how much the advice will cost before you commit to buying
  • Provide honest advice from people who all have first hand experience of starting and running their own successful businesses
  • Provide a professional service
  • Treat everyone as an individual
  • Listen to you, our customers, and adapt our service to make sure we continue to meet your expectations

"All" our advisers run their own small businesses, which they set up from scratch. The advantage of this to you is that we've fallen into the holes that we're now hoping to help you to avoid and we know how great it is to get your first invoice paid – no matter how small!

What we won't do

  • Provide irrelevant information
  • Ask you for personal details unless absolutely necessary
  • Push you to start before you're ready
  • Share your information with anyone else
  • Judge you or your business idea
  • Provide specialist advice in areas where we have no experience or knowledge
  • Rely on government-funded programmes that are liable to frequent change and too much paperwork!

Profile of Cathy Chapman

bizSimple MD, Cathy Chapman, has been a business adviser for over 15 years (that she admits to!!); she has also trained teams of advisers, assessed them against nationally recognised standards and audited business start-up contracts for business support organisations in Wales.

In her 'spare time', Cathy and her husband run a small property development business and have two holiday lets in Pembrokeshire. In her twenties, Cathy and her Mum set up a small sandwich bar in her home town of Penarth, and after a few shaky moments at the start and a lot of hard graft, the business is still thriving today (some 20 years on!) and is now something of a landmark in the town.
