The simple way to start a business.

Setting up your new office

Whether at home, or elsewhere, you will need to make sure that you have everything you need to run your business efficiently.

The best thing to do is to make a list of all the things that you think you might need to put into your office, then go through it again and take out anything that would be nice to have but that you could live without for now (e.g. photocopier!).

Only start buying when you are happy with the list, when you know how you are going to pay for it, and when you are absolutely sure that you are going to go ahead with the business idea.

Don't forget mobile phones, possibly a second telephone line if you are trading from home, a filing cabinet, a comfortable office chair (don't skimp here – you could be sat in it for a long time!).

It is also a really good idea to order office equipment and stationery items over the web or through an office supplier – this can be cheaper and also gives you the chance to rationalize that order before pressing 'send' so that you can filter out those impulse buys that can easily blow your budget. After all, there are only so many colour co-ordinated staplers, paper clips and in trays you will need!
